AMADOR CITY ~ Visitor Guide

“Amador City stands today among the liveliest and most go-ahead towns on the Pacific Coast. It is situated in a romantic spot on the Jackson and Drytown wagon road, two miles from Sutter Creek. Old landmarks in the shape of frame business houses have disappeared and substantial brick edifices arisen in their stead. At all hour of the day and far in to the night the camp wears a lively aspect” – Sacramento Daily Union, January 27, 1879.

We may be small, but we have it all!

Amador City is vibrant with activity. A wide range of shops and antique stores from handmade items to collectibles. We have live music and, at times, Dancin’in the Street! There is a walking tour. Award winning wineries and tasting rooms. Wonderful places to eat and an historic hotel for staying the night.

Winter and early spring are great times to visit the Gold Country too. Occasional winter storms intermingled with bright blue skies, the hills are bright green and the poppies are out in profusion, no crowds or traffic… browse through the little shops, visit historical sites, check out all the wineries THEN comes summer and things heat up.
